The walls of Moabit in 1983 were gray and bleak, until an artistic genius named SHEK appeared and transformed them into a comic paradise with a true storm of color. His influence on the world of wildstyle graffiti was as palpable as the eponymous film influenced him when he began in 1983 to cover the gray walls with the colorful thoughts from his comic brain. SHEK was inspired by Berlin pioneers like Amok and began his first tentative attempts to cover the world in color. The mission was clear from the start - he wanted to turn the city into a living work of art. In the ranks of the TCF crew, he led hard but fair battles against other crews in West Berlin and put his characteristic marks on the walls. He told whole comic stories in a single image, and his competition grew as the limited West Berlin area offered fewer escape routes.

SHEK also recognized the potential of the S-Bahn and U-Bahn trains as new, moving canvases. This unconventional relationship between SHEK and the public transport system gives the graffiti movement an additional dimension. The trains that raced through the city became moving works of art that impressed Berliners and their guests alike.

But then he turned to the Berlin Wall, to the famous spots and the insider tip at the border crossing Rudow. The fall of the Wall in 1989 not only changed the political situation, but also the graffiti scene. SHEK could now paint the Wall from the other side and get to know the East Berlin scene.

In the early 1990s, he opened his first store in Kreuzberg and influenced the crews that were founded in this new era. But SHEK always stayed true to himself. For decades he has been enriching the graffiti world with his comics and his heroes. He has never belonged to messing around in the city, bringing walls to life with color and sharing his passion for art with the world.

SHEK is not only an artist, but also a pioneer and a passionate advocate of graffiti culture. His works are a reflection of his dedication and unwavering love for art that he has brought into the world over the past decades. His colors are his words, his characters his stories, and the city is his living canvas. SHEK, the virtuoso of Berlin graffiti art, will inspire many generations of artists to come and continue to fill the city with life.
